Job Creation Partnership – Interactive Dance Coordinator-Presenters

In collaboration with funding support from the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation, we are looking for 3 young people in need of professional development, employment training, work-experience, and / or leadership development.

Those interested must have been in the WorkBC database within the past 5 years and have

  • Been on EI in the past 5 years or are on EI now
  • English speaking and writing skills (French is an asset)
  • Intermediate – advanced level of physical fitness
  • Willingness to work and cooperate with others (including youth and children)
  • Willingness to work independently and within a multicultural team
  • Interest in art and culture and multiculturalism

Training and work experience alternates to provide ongoing professional development but also independence within the work place.

Training

  • July 5 – August 9
  • August 21 – September 4

Work Experience

  • Immediately – June 21
  • September 5 – December 22

While SQx is a professional dance company, being trained as a dancer is not necessary. However, having an interest or curiosity in art and culture is required.

The intent of this job placement is to mentor, tutor, and inspire professional interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills for the workplace within a training and touring environment that genuinely reveals and embraces Canadian multiculturalism.  Those invited to participate will refine and cultivate their existing skill-sets with regarding to

  • Cooperation
  • Collaboratively problem-solving
  • Leadership within the workplace
  • Professional interpersonal behaviours —including inclusion and citizenship
  • Professional responsibility and accountability (with respect, but not limited to, body language and tone of voice)
  • Imagination
  • Writing, copy, and photo creation and distribution
  • Use of sound, video, and web technology and software
  • Coordination of multiple program deliveries and syllabuses
  • Coordination of logistics (arrival / departure, accommodation, transportation)
  • Managing of large groups and multiple venues
  • Advertising

Wages are supported by WorkBC ($15.50 / hour x 35 hours / week), and (aside from July 5 – August 9), SQx provides all food, accommodation, transportation, and uniforms.
