Cecilia – On The Stage

“Cecilia – Digital Co-Creation” was originally created during the height of COVID-19 restrictions in collaboration with CIRCE – Experimental Platform for Dance and Theatre. We experimented with making art in new sustainable ways, and set-out to make a performance that would be created and presented entirely digitally with the hopes of promoting green mobility.

Once COVID restrictions loosened, we thought it would be interesting for audiences to see both a digital & physical presentation of the same work as a relevant & timely, pandemic-era double-bill that shows the evolution and transformation of performing arts during a period of historically unprecedented restrictions in art & culture.

“Cecilia – On The Stage” is a highly physical and thought-provoking re-interpretation of the digital work performed by 5 diverse women. At its core, the work aims to empower women and girls to advance gender equity, and promote and protect the rights of women and girls across the globe.

“Cecilia – On The Stage” premiered in Santa Maria, Açores, Portugal in the Santa Maria Island Dance Festival and was later presented and filmed at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey, British Columbia.
